Venetian Blinds Care

16mm Micro and 25mm Slimline

Wand used to rotate blind.

  • Make sure your blinds are in the open position(“open” is when you can see through the blind), before lifting.
  • Take a hold of all the cords together when lifting a blind.
  • Keep the cords together and pull all of them together and evenly, otherwise the blind wont lift squarely.
  • When your blind is at the level you want, tug the cords towards the outer edge of the blind to engage thelocking mechanism.
  • When there are young children about and your blind is raised, remember to keep the cords out of the reach of those little hands.  Children can damage the blind mechanism but more importantly, they can become entangled in the cords.
  • When you want to lower the blind, unlock by first gathering all of the cords together. Pull lightly on the bundle of cords and tug gently towardsthe middle of the blind to disengage the locking mechanism.  Then simply guide the blind down slowly, releasing the cords slowly in a controlled way.  Remember to stow the cords out of the reach of children.
  • If you have “hold down brackets” installed, simply snap the bottom rail of the blind into these to stop strong breezes from blowing the blind around when the window is open.
  • Of course, don’t forget to detach the blind from hold down brackets before you try to raise the blind.
  • In winter rotate blades to so that the inside edges of the blades are facing downwards.  Surprisingly this helps to warm the room by allowing sunlight to enter downwards between the blades, warming the lower levels of the room.  The warmth generated in this way will rise, increasing the temperature of the room and helping to lower heating costs.
  • In summer reverse the winter settings. Sunlight is then restricted and the more of the heat is reflected away, keeping the ambient temperature in the room lower.
  • There are a variety of ways to clean venetians but the simplest is to rotate the wand to close them in one direction and dust with a microfibre cloth or feather duster.  Then rotate the wand so that the blind is closed in the opposite way and repeat the dusting process. Being manufactured of very durable and stain resistant materials further, cleaning is very rarely required, if ever.  Dust often to control a build up of dust.
  • Venetians are made from slender and very thin materials, which means they must be treated with respect to avoid damage.  When reaching for window locks, raise the blind and don’t reach through the blades.  In this way you’ll prevent any buckling of the blades
  • This is important because any signs of misuse may affect your guarantee.
